INFORMATION
Whilst our Office will be open for telephone enquiries Mon 23 Jan thro Thu 26 Jan and onwards from Mon 30 Jan we will be closed Fri 27 Jan thro Sun 29 Jan for the British Parachute Association Drop Zone Operators Meetings, BPA AGM & Symposium to be held in Bolton.
Our last programmed parachuting day of 2011 was Sun 18 Dec 11. We open for parachuting on weekends throughout the year late Jan through late Dec and during British Summer Time (late March through late October) we open for parachuting on Wed afternoons, Friday afternoons and Bank Holiday Mondays.
Outside of British Summer Time if the weather is good we may open for solo parachuting (particularly in Nov & Dec during the Academic Terms but not normally in the New Year until after Valentines around 14 Feb). Please note that if the weather is unsuitable for parachuting we will not open for parachuting on Wed & Fri afternoons outside of British Summer Time and accordingly training and briefings will not be offered on those days that we do not open.
When we are open for parachuting we run daily revision training at 9:30am and 1:30pm (i.e. in the case of Wed & Fris during British Summer Time this will be at 1:30pm). When we don't open for parachuting we don't offer daily revision training (i.e. in the case of poor weather conditions on Weds & Fris outside of British Summer Time).
In 2012 we will open for a training day for our quasi staff and our regular jumpers on Sat 21 Jan 12 and then for all comers (note Tandems and AFF need to book) on Sun 22 Jan 12. We will be closed on 28/29 Jan 12 in order to attend the BPA AGM and associated presentations. I don't see us operating mid week on Weds & Fris in 2012 until after Valentines and then only should conditions be suitable for parachuting until the advent of British Summer Time when we will normally open on Wed & Fri afternoons regardless.
Solo Student Parachutists need to attend daily revision training prior to jumping on any day at Peterlee Parachute Centre. Solo Student Parachutists not having trained for over 1 month need to take a written & practical assessment, those not meeting the required standard will need to cover the full BPA Training Syllabus again. Those not having trained for in excess of 3 months will regardless have to cover the full BPA Training Syllabus again - this normally requires such individuals to book to attend another ab initio course.
College and University Reps are asked to pass this on to their members lest those members make fruitless trips to the Centre on bad weather days.
OPERATING DATES & MID WEEK OPENING: Our regular hours for parachuting are Fridays from 1030hrs and weekends from 0830hrs late January through late December (operating up until & including 17/18 December in 2011), plus during British Summer Time (BST) we also operate on Bank Holiday Mondays from 0830hrs and also during BST on Wednesday afternoons from 1pm. We tend not to operate on the Wednesday following a Bank Holiday Monday or the Wednesday following one of our full time weeks (those full time weeks generally being 2nd weeks of June, July & August). Please note that on confirmed opening days solo student parachutist revision training is in general held at 9:30pm and 1:30pm
NEW PRODUCT - GOLD TANDEM SKYDIVE PACKAGE: priced @ £380 - in addition to our standard Tandem Package this includes on the day of training for lunch a sandwich and a drink (tea/coffee), then after the jump has been completed presentation of a "T" Shirt, Final Approach/Landing Photograph, Sparkling Wine, and one £100 discount voucher (valid for 3 months) for the same participant off the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of a future course (Tandem/AFF/Solo SL) at our centre. We are considering introducing a limited Diamond Package, limited to 1 per dedicated instructor on selected days, which would accord priority in the Tandem Jump Order but would be still be restricted to the normal weather constraints and operating hours. Until the retail section of our web site has been updated the Gold Tandem Package can be booked by telephoning the parachute centre on 0191.5171234, or calling in person, during our advertised operating hours.
